Community Service Opportunity: ASTI will join the COA FabLab and Wood Middle School Teen Techs at the Ruby Bridges STEAM Night to entertain and inform families and students about opportunities at ASTI and COA. We seek ASTI students to join us to interact with the TK-5 kids and families. Activities will include laser cut puzzles. Skateboarders are encouraged to join since the rack that Clarisse made in FabLab will be on display.  Wear helmets if you come to skate, and be mindful of the younger kids present. Teen Tech and Robotics members are also encouraged.  NOTE—this event conflicts with the ASTI Spirit Dance, which will be loads of fun.  If you’re torn, I encourage you to attend the dance- there will be other community service opportunities with Ruby Bridges kids. Sign up in the office. Friday October 25 6:15-7:45pm at Ruby Bridges Elementary.

 

Seniors:  A Cash for College Financial Aid night will be held on Thursday, October 24th from 6:30-8:30 at Encinal High School’s Library/Student Center.  All 12th graders are STRONGLY encouraged to attend with a parent or guardian to learn how to fill out your FAFSA or Dream Act Application. Bring student & parent Social Security Numbers or Alien Registration #’s if not a US Citizen, & your family’s most recent Federal tax forms.  Obtain your FSA ID before attending this event at www.fsaid.ed.gov.  ALL seniors should submit a FAFSA or Dream Act Application.  See Ms. Jurkovich if you have any questions!

 

Hello Class of 2023!  Freshmen that's you! Remember that you have freshmen representative elections this week on Thursday in Ms. Campbell's room. Show up and be an active part of your community and vote for who you think will effectively lead your class through school events! See you there! P.S. Remember, everyone is *required* to vote. ASB Officials will keep track of those who turn in ballots.

 

Buy your yearbooks for $50 this Friday in the quad during lunch! Get them before prices go up!

 

ONLINE DRIVER’S EDUCATION COURSE AVAILABLE for AUSD students age 15-18!

The course is free to AUSD students and can be accessed at any time and can be taken at the student’s own pace. The course is also designed to work on mobile and tablet devices. The course content, depending on your state, is approved either by the DMV, State Court, or Department of Education and meets all requirements for an online curriculum. Students go through unit content, quizzes, and a course final. Once the student has passed the final, a physical copy of the Certificate of Completion is provided to the student.  https://www.alamedadriversed.com/

•          Common Application Workshop:  Friday, October 18th, 1-2pm, ASTI Computer Lab

•          College Application Workshop:  Monday, November 4th, 1-2pm in ASTI Computer Lab

•          College Application Workshop:  Friday, November 15th, 1-2pm, ASTI Computer Lab

All Students: Requests for official or unofficial transcripts must now be made by filling out a Transcript Request Form in the office.  Forms can be found at the front of the office and must be placed in Ms. Krasky’s box above the student printer.  Transcript requests will take at least 1 school day to process, and when complete will be placed in the Will Call box above the printer for you to pick up.  Please plan accordingly when you are in need of a transcript; immediate requests will no longer be granted.

 

10th, 11th & 12th Graders:  Spring and Summer 2019 grades have been uploaded to transcripts in Aeries.  Please log into your Aeries accounts to make sure your Peralta transcript data is correct.  If you find any errors, please turn in a copy of your unofficial Peralta transcript to Ms. Jurkovich highlighting the course/grade error.  Students who took a later session summer course that doesn’t appear on their ASTI transcript will need to have an unofficial Peralta transcript printed and turned into Ms. Jurkovich highlighting the course that needs to be added.

 

Seniors:  Sign up for a mandatory appointment with Ms. Jurkovich on the clipboard at Ms. Singer’s desk to review your college list and/or post ASTI plans & to calculate your weighted UC/CSU GPA.

 

ASTI is partnering with the Korean Community Center of the East Bay (KCCEB) to provide individual counseling services for students. This is part of our broader school focus on students' emotional wellbeing as part of their foundations for academic success. These counseling services are open to all ASTI students.  Counselors will be on campus Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week. Students are referred to counseling by staff members; parents may also refer students and students may self-refer.  Please contact Mrs. Corbally or Ms. Jurkovich if you would like to refer someone.  If interest exceeds capacity, we will start a waitlist.  

 

New counseling appointment system!  If you’d like to schedule a 30 minute appointment to meet with Ms. Jurkovich, please sign up for an appointment time on the clipboard at Ms. Singer’s desk in the office.  You may sign up for appointments for the following:

-Confidential personal concerns; College planning; Peralta course planning, IGETC, & AA degrees; Reviewing college lists & fit; Reviewing college application questions; Reviewing college essay drafts

 

Ms. Jurkovich will have drop in counseling on the following days/times:

Mondays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays 1:30pm-2:00pm

Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays 3:00-3:30pm

Drop-in is for:

-Signing concurrent enrollment forms; Quick scheduling questions; Quick questions about college applications; Clipper Card & Peralta log-on issues; Questions/concerns that require only a few minutes

 

Coffee Bar 140 is a student enterprise funded by the ASCOA. Conveniently located on the 2nd floor of the Student Center. Proudly serving Mr. Espresso. Morning pastries. And grab ‘n’ go sandwiches, salads and snacks. Revenue from coffee bar sales will be used to fund clubs, campus life programs and student leadership opportunities. Visit the coffee bar during the Open House to try one of many drink offerings. From 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., all espresso and coffee drinks are $1.40 (additional charges apply for extra shots and add-ons).
